South African stand-up comedy received a major boost in December 2008 with the opening of a brand new venue, Parker's Comedy & Jive, at Montecasino in Fourways. The venue, purpose-built to showcase the art of stand-up comedy, will feature the best in local and international comedians.
The brainchild of SA comedy stalwart Joe Parker, Parker's Comedy & Jive is the realisation of a long-term dream to provide a regular home for stand-up comedy and also to develop the art as a regular attraction in the vein of theatre and movies.
