To celebrate 100 years of Madiba, National Children’s Theatre brings to the stage an original production of one of Chris van Wyk's last stories, Mr Hare Meets Mr Mandela directed by Daniel Keith Geddes.
Mr Hare Meets Mr Mandela is a tale about bravery and persistence, as well as the significance of being literate, something dear to late uTata's heart.
Warm your hearts this winter with the not-often-heard tale of how Mr Hare takes on the biggest lost-and-found adventure. Mr Hare finds a R200 note - and of course it belongs to Mr Mandela because it has his face on it or so illiterate Mr Hare thinks! So Mr Hare sets off to return it to its rightful owner!
With a brand new script, joyful music, characters a plenty, as well as stunning shadow puppetry, the show promises to be fun for the whole family, as well as teaching children the many wonders of stories, and being able to read them. The moral of the story is that if we do not learn from our experiences, we are bound to repeat them - and poor Mr Hare believes it is fine to be illiterate!
