LOYISO MADINGA is one of South Africa's fastest rising stand-up comedians having firmly secured himself as an international act. After a sold out run in 2019 Loyiso returns to Sandton in PROBLEM CHILD at the Auto & General Theatre on the Square.
After a phenomenal 2018 that launched with Loyiso being announced as the South Africa Correspondent for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, he then went on to host the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundations' Goalkeepers Awards ceremony in New York and recorded his debut half hour stand-up special for Netflix, Long Way From My Village. Loyiso has been further crafting his particular stand-up style - wit, characterisation and the ability to stretch an insight into the ridiculous. Throw some singing in there too.
In PROBLEM CHILD all these skills are combined to tell purely South African stories and ideas of the world from a rural boy.
PROBLEM CHILD is not only about a private school 'miseducation', it's a comedy show where, as Loyiso's high school teachers would often say "hopefully you'll come out having learned something".
You might have seen him on Netflix, Comedy Central or detention. Now watch him do what he does best in his new stand-up comedy special. This show has been over twenty years in the making? Loyiso began crafting his jokes from the back of the maths classrooms. Problem Child is not only about a private school miseducation. I's a comedy show where hopefully you'll come out having learned something.
