Pedro Barbosa Releases Debut Single - Strangers in the night
8th October 18
Mozambique-born PEDRO BARBOSA has officially released the first single, STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT, from his debut album REBORN, which was released earlier this year.
Barbosa embarked on recording his first solo album beginning 2017. The recording process spawned a new beginning and symbolises a coming-of-age for the artist: “I felt the need to do more for myself musically, and that was what first triggered this album. Reborn was basically like a cleansing title for me. I’m starting afresh and I’m ready for life more than ever.” The album was produced and mixed by SAMA Award winner and renowned producer, Mark Beling. The result: A fusion of urban-acoustic grooves and ballads steeped in soul and pop-rock that morphs into a catchy yet compelling nine-track album.
STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT was written whilst recording REBORN, inspired by seeing someone dancing at an event and the idea of never being able to have that person.
“The song is about a possible situation where you find someone attractive; you can't have them but you want to play at the edge of that curiosity. So I created a virtual situation, yet inspired by a real life event.” says Pedro.
Displaying old school Funk elements with a modern touch, the single features a musical sensuality combined with a lyrical depth and introverted shyness signature to PEDRO BARBOSA’s music.
“Anyone with an emotional connection to others would be able to relate to this single. Someone in love, someone who likes to dance, and definitely someone who has a stranger in the night that they are not completely honest about.”
