Butlers and Body Bags at the Artscape

8th January 19

Anyone who has attended the Grahamstown National Arts Festival in the past decade knows the "Butlers" comedy series. The shows have enjoyed huge popularity since first being performed in 2008, with many thousands having seen the murder-mystery plays... and where the audience gets to decide what happens next!

The series' creator, Justin Wilkinson, is also a familiar face at the festival and the last one was particularly significant for him. “It was really exciting to attend my 20th Fest in 2018! The last two decades have been phenomenal and it has been such an honour to have worked with some incredibly talented performers over the years.” These have included many famous stage and television personalities.

This January, Slick ‘n Sleeve is bringing their next thrilling production to Cape Town! BUTLERS AND BODY BAGS is the latest installment of the now-famous murder-mystery series and the Butlers team is thrilled to once again present patrons with a brand-new comedy where the audience’s participation has an impact on the storyline.

This time, a group of medical students decide to have a murder-mystery party at the local morgue. Little do they know what sinister happenings are about to unfold… and once again, the AUDIENCE gets to decide what happens next! The choices made ultimately determine the outcome of this edge-of-your-seat ‘whodunnit’ dark comedy! So, if you’ve ever wanted to steer a show in a particular direction and even kill off one of two characters along the way... now’s your chance!

Voting takes place by way of a narrator giving choices to the viewer and, once a decision is made, the story heads in a particular direction. In essence, anything can happen in this hair-raising comedy that is… to DIE for!

BUTLERS AND BODY BAGS is an exhilarating ride with the crazy antics happening right up until the final scene. Murder-mystery theatre has never been this exciting! And with multiple endings, who knows what’s going to happen?

The “Butlers” shows have also been regularly listed within the Top 30 Fringe productions at the NAF, so understandably, tickets are selling fast!

Rave reviews every year from the critics and theatre goers alike!
